Mr. Carl M. Ballinger Sr's Obituary
Carl M. Ballinger, Sr, age 77, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Carl was born on October 28, 1942 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Clyde Ballinger and Dorothy Smith Ballinger.
Carl enjoyed line dancing, where he met his wife, Kathy. He also enjoyed golf, softball, bowling, shooting pool, and fishing. He had a passion for fast cars. He loved restoring vehicles in his spare time, and raced cars when he was younger. Carl had been a member of the pit crews for Bobby and Davey Allison. He had frequented Goodlettsville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. During the Korean War, he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Before he retired, he was operation manager for Timken Latrobe Steel in White House, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Dixie Meyer.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathy Rogers Ballinger; sons Carl (Tammy) Ballinger II, and Mark (Abby) Ballinger; daughter Lisa Ballinger; step-son Adam (Angie) Wheeler; sister Sherry (Dave) Rehkamp; grandchildren Brady (Ciarra) Ballinger, Kingston Ballinger, Barron Ballinger, Bradley Wheeler, and Benjamin Wheeler.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home, Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 23 at 1 PM with Pastor Tim Stutler officiating. Family will begin receiving friends and visitors at 11 AM. Burial and military graveside honors will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
