Carl R. Resener's Obituary
RESENER, Carl R.; Former Director of Nashville Rescue Mission, pastor, author, seminar speaker, and tireless advocate for the homeless and mentally ill was born October 9, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana., and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2011. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Resener Sr.; mother, Bernice; brothers, Edward Jr. and Robert; sister, Pauline Resener Schwartz; step-mother, Marie and foster parents, George and Beulah Allen. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Laura Pollock Resener; daughters, Nancy (Mike) Alder and Janice (Doug) Miller; grandchildren, Shane (LeGenna), Charlie, Laura Miller and Mallory Alder; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Kaydence; sisters, Edith Norblod, Rose (Ray) Lanham, Patricia (Marvin) Baumer, Judy (John) Coe. Carl was a graduate of Bob Jones University and Seminary. He received an honorary doctorate from Heritage Baptist University. The funeral ceremony will be Thursday September 29, 2011 at 1PM at Metro Baptist Church with Phil Martin officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Thursday from 12-1 at the church. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Glenn Harris, Wilbur Sensing, Currey Womack, Don Worrell, Doug Miller and Shane Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Staff and Board members of the Nashville Rescue Mission.
