Mr. Carl Howard Smith's Obituary
Carl Howard Smith, 91, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at his home. Carl was born March 23, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Elmer Smith and Sue Vick Smith.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Carl was an alumnus of East Nashville High School. He worked for Dupont Chemicals and later went on to be a supervisor at Ford Glass. Carl was an avid golfer and was the oldest living member of Bluegrass Country Club, where he was a member of a group of golfers known as the ‘Everyday Boys’.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his two brothers William Edgar Smith and Roger Lewis Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Vada Crockett Smith; daughters Sherrie Ann (Charles) Cleveland and Carla (Lane Palmer) Locke; grandchildren Christa Moser, Tonya (Langdon) Newman, Chad (Brandi) Cleveland, and Sarah (Lukas) Novak; great grandchildren Vada Anslee, Amber, Savanna, Nate, Ollie, Maddie, Vada and Nela; brother Richard A. Smith.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 3 PM until 7 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 12 PM Noon. Family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Warren, Chad Cleveland, Lane Palmer, Nate Newman, J.B. Brown, Lukas Novak, and Langdon Newman. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Hammock and The Everyday Boys of Bluegrass Country Club.
