Ms. Carolyn A Kent's Obituary
Carolyn was an accomplished writer for which she had both a passion and talent. She was a native Nashvillian and a member of St. James the Less Episcopal Church in Madison, TN. After an early career centered mostly in Office Administration and Human Resources she went on to earn the M.Ed from Vanderbilt University in Human Resource Development. Changing directions later, she returned to writing and publishing, authoring nearly one hundred historical and regional articles and related poems, along with a highly successful book which distinguished her beloved Southland.
Carolyn maintained a “second” career of volunteer work in areas where she also had great interest, giving time and talent to historical organizations and the Ballet Guild, where in both she held various offices and chairmanships.
She was a loving and devoted aunt to two nephews and two nieces, and one great-niece and one great-nephew to whom she was known as “Cacky”.
Her hobbies and pastimes included ballet, reading and writing, watching football and doing needlepoint as well as spending time with family. Carolyn was an excellent cook who was well known for her specialties that were looked forward to by family, friends, and shared at events.
She was a most dedicated and supportive family member to her parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Elmer I. Kent, mother Helen Apple Kent. She is survived by brother Don E. (Darlyne) Kent, sister Marilyn Kent (Joe) Diaferia, nephew Brandon (Sandra) Kent, niece Melissa (Nic) Hamilton, niece Rissy (Dustin) Littlepage, nephew Joey Diaferia III, great-neice Caitlin Hamilton, great-nephew Dominick Littlepage, and many dear cousins.
