Mrs. Carrie Ann Batten's Obituary
Carrie Ann Batten, age 90, of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. Carrie Ann was one of nine children born to parents Jake and Grace Tinnin. She was raised in Goodletsville, TN where she spent the majority of her life. She enjoyed country life on the farm with her parents and siblings. Always speaking fondly of running through the open fields and playing in the creek with her brothers and sisters. She also loved going to school even though it was a two-mile walk. She would go on to graduate from Goodletsville High School and pursue college. Before finishing college, she moved to live with her Aunt in Florida to work at The Bell Company as a telephone operator where she would meet and marry her first husband, Louis Minassian. After having her five children, she settled in Boston, Massachusetts near her in-laws. She eventually moved back to her hometown of Goodletsville, TN where she continued to raise her children and lived the rest of her life. She worked her way through many titles at Red Lobster for more than 25 years from where she retired, but would continue to serve the community as a Crossing Guard at Goodletsville Elementary school for the next 22 years where she was beloved. She was dedicated to her family and worked endless hours to ensure they were always taken care of. In her late fifties, she took in her granddaughters and raised them as her own. She cared for them as she cared for her own children and provided them with a deeply loving and joyous home. She was an amazing musician and played the piano by ear. She was also a wonderful cook and loved to wait on and feed her family throughout the years as she was always the designated cook on holidays and gatherings. She loved to play bingo in her spare time. She was a faithful Seventh day Adventist and believed and worshiped God. She loved her family dearly and served God by dedicating her life to her loved ones. She is deeply loved and greatly missed by so many. She is proceeded by Her mother and father, Jake and Grace Tinnin. Grandparents. Great-grandchildren: Alexis Phillips, Desirae Phillips, Jazlyn Vaughn, Aliza Williams, Jesiah Campbell, Colton Raines, Kainen Laci Raines. Survived by:Brother Sam Tinnin Children:John Minassian, Michael Minassian, David Minassian, and Victoria Duncan. Grandchildren: Michelle Peacock, Chelsea Koski, Tara Vaughn, Jacob Duncan, Christie Townes, Lisa Pruitt, Great Grandchildren: Layla Grace Meho, Rowan, Koski, Desire Vaughn,Alexis Vaughn, Sidney Raines, Adrienne Raines, Allie Raines, Clara Mae Tolbit, Ethan Townes, Austin Townes, Joslin Townes, Great Great Grandchildren: Brailey Townes, Colton, Kainen Laciand countless nieces and nephew’s. Carrie Ann was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, and friend who always put others before herself and will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
Visitation for Carrie Ann will be held on Friday, July 09, 2021 from Noon until 2 PM at which time a Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Burial will follow in Green Brier Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
