Catherine Blakemore McMahan's Obituary
Catherine “Kathryn” Blakemore McMahan, 84, of Nashville, Tennessee, a dedicated mother of one, grandmother of one, sister, aunt, loving relative, and friend of many, departed this life on April 20th, 2023, after a brief and unexpected battle with cancer. She will be missed dearly.
Catherine was born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 9, 1938. She attended St. Cecelia Academy and later Gallatin High School (class of 1956). She was a high school cheerleader and an occasional beauty pageant participant, even once winning Miss Sumner County. Catherine began her career with Newspaper Printing Corp. and was subsequently an affectionate homemaker for many years. She finished her working career as a medical receptionist.
Catherine’s passions were art, architecture, decorating, fashion, music, dogs, and frogs. She was outgoing and a true “people person.” She extended love and friendship to everyone she knew and doted especially upon her son and granddaughter.
Catherine is preceded in death by her mother Isabelle Blakemore, her father Kenneth Blakemore, and her older sister Frances Hanner. She is survived by her son John W. McMahan Jr., her granddaughter Emily C. McMahan, her nephew Gary K. Hanner, her former husband John W. McMahan Sr., M.D., and many other adored relatives.
The family cordially invites friends and family for a time of visitation on Saturday, April 29th, 2023, from ten o’clock in the morning until twelve o’clock in the afternoon, with a funeral service at twelve o’clock in the afternoon, and inurnment to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
