Ms. Catherine L. Sterling's Obituary
Catherine Louise Bailey Sterling passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born on June 4, 1938 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN the daughter of James and Ethel (Stoermer) Bailey both of whom have preceded her in death.
Catherine earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. She worked many years as a Microbiologist for the Tennessee Department of Health in Nashville. After her retirement she was commissioned by the CDC twice to teach proper lab procedures for the health department in Zambia. She was also a girls Sunday school teacher, basketball coach, church camp counselor for their summer camp and she was involved in many fellowship activities at Englewood Baptist Church. Most of all Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother to her daughters and all of her grandchildren. She was always there if someone needed her and she always put her family first before herself.
Catherine is survived by her daughters Elaine Demonbreun and Lisa Hamilton; grandchildren Nicole Sanders, Kristen Demonbreun, Eric Sanders and Bailey Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Michael Demonbreun and her sister Carey Greene.
Catherine’s visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery at 5110 Gallatin Pike South, Nashville, TN 37216. Catherine’s graveside service ceremony will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2021 at 11 AM in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
