Mrs. Cathy Leigh's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Edie Cathleen Boone Leigh (“Cathy”) announces her passing after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer. Cathy, a resident of Joelton, Tennessee passed away August 30th, 2019 at the age of 62. Cathy attended Stratford High School, Nashville, TN. graduating in 1975 and obtained her BS from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Psychology in 1979. She then commenced and finished her post graduate study of Court Reporting at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN. Shortly thereafter, she began her career working for former Tennessee Senator Douglas Henry and also working as an independent contractor court reporter throughout the next few years. Then from 1991 through 2017 she became the Official Court Reporter of the United States District Court, Middle District of Tennessee where she retired in 2017 under Chief Judge Todd Campbell.
Cathy was known for her sweet demeanor and proved to be one of the most selfless people anyone could ever meet. You simply could not help but love Cathy after meeting her for the first time. She was an avid scrap booker creating countless scrap books and lasting memories for all of her family. She loved the beach and the peacefulness of the ocean. She excelled at spoiling all of her family members and even friends she loved so dearly. She adored her grandchildren as they were very special to her.
Cathy will be forever remembered by her husband Larry Leigh of 33 years and their only child, Colby Owen Leigh (Bridgette). She will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren Lennox, Xander and Phoenix. She will be terribly missed by her mom Goldie (Cissy) Owen Boone and her sisters and brother Cindy (Wade), Cassy (Randy), Christy and Clay (Missy). Cathy will also be forever remembered by her numerous nephews, great nephews, nieces, great nieces, cousins and dear friends. Cathy was predeceased by her father Jackie Ned Boone. Pallbearers will be Halston Warren, Houston Warren, Joseph McNamee, Jordan McNamee, Jacob McNamee, Jackson Boone, Bryson Boone and Thomas Chi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 10-11 AM with the funeral service in memory of Cathy immediately following at 11 AM at the Spring Hill Funeral Home located at 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tn 37216. Pastor David Royalty of First Baptist Church of Joelton will officiate the service and interment will follow in the historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
