Mr. Cecil Graham Acree's Obituary
Cecil Graham Acree, age 92, passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on September 13, 2014. Cecil was born in Nashville, Tennessee on June 17, 1922, to the late Bertram and Jimmie Graham Acree. Cecil was a busy man. By day, he was an engineer who helped build energy plants; but, when he came home at night and on the weekends, he worked on his farm. He served as an Elder for the Church of Christ for over 30 years, and was on the Board of Directors of the Mountain States Children’s Home. As a kid, Cecil played some golf, and served in the Air Force during World War II. He met his wife, Doris while stationed in Illinois. He always spoke of continuing golf and flying small airplanes, intending to continue to pursue both as hobbies as an adult; but his other activities took precedence…but, he always enjoyed dreaming and talking about it. Cecil proudly served our country from 1943 to 1946 and was a Retired Lieutenant-Colonel of the United States Air Force.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Doris Acree; daughter, Kathleen (Gary) Duncan; son, Graham (Linda) Acree; sister, Evelyn Proctor; grandchildren, Jeff Duncan, Mark Duncan, Amy Acree, Bertram Acree, and Marilyn Sensing; great-grandson, Ian Michael Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Acree will be laid to rest with military honors at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at 10:00am.
