Mr. Charles R. Bobbitt Sr.'s Obituary
Charles R. Bobbitt Sr., age 96 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday July 31, 2019. He was born on November 16, 1922 to the late Charles and Edna Bobbitt. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Earl Horace Bobbitt. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Juanita, his son Charles R. Bobbitt Jr.(JoAnn), his grandchildren Olivia Balding (Austin), John Charles Bobbitt (Chelsea), and Joseph Daniel Bobbitt (Ada Panni), as well as his great-grandson Charlie Bobbitt.
Charles was an amazing person. He was smart, kind, patient, never angry, and absolutely tough as nails. He could best be described as a “Gentle John Wayne.” He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, and he especially loved his wife, Juanita, with whom he shared 73 of his 96 years. Charles worked as a Control Mechanic for DuPont for over 30 years, and was a Deacon at Inglewood Baptist Church for many years as well. He also served in the United States Army Air Force during the second World War as a flight engineer and top gunner, as well as several other positions. Charles in fact, with some very quick and creative thinking, managed to save a whole crew of men and their plane on one of the many missions he completed.
A visitation for Mr. Bobbitt will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from noon to 2pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 2pm in the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private. Spring Hill Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care of Mr. Bobbitt. 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37216.
