Charles Burns' Obituary
Charles “Butch” Edwin Burns Sr. died peacefully on July 21, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 78.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Burns, his only son, Charles Burns, Jr. (Kellye), his grandchildren, Shelby Brown (Ben) and Bailey Burns (Chandler), his great-granddaughter, Annie Brown, his brother Earnest Burns and his sister Shelia Jones.
Charles was born on October 20, 1944, in Nashville, Tennessee to Herman and Marie Burns. He graduated from Howard High School and immediately after graduation decided to serve his country. He was honorably discharged, and this year would mark his 50th year of military service.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was an avid storyteller, and his generosity and love will be found in the family for generations to come. Charles was well known for his love of being outdoors. He spent many years camping, hunting, and fishing at Land Between the Lakes until he bought his own piece of paradise in Erin, Tennessee. His love of crappie/cat fishing and deer/turkey hunting will never be forgotten.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 24, 2023, from five o'clock in that afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. The funeral service will be held the following day on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, set to commence at ten o'clock in the morning. The family will visit an hour prior to that service, from nine o'clock in the morning until ten o'clock in the morning. Immediately following the funeral everyone is invited to the committal service also at Spring Hill Cemetery.
