Mr. Charles William "Bill" Hunt's Obituary
Mr. Charles W. “Bill” Hunt, 85, died peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his residence in Nashville. He was the son of the late John William and Emma Mae Fields Hunt also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Fields Hunt Adams and his first wife, Joan Wiss Hunt. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Corrine Orgish Hunt; his children, Cynthia Ann (Damon) Regen, Cashin (Donna Burke) Hunt, and Charlie (Joy) Hunt; two grandchildren, Emma Hunt (Phillip Lovell) and Wiley Hunt. Bill was born in Nashville and was a graduate of Duncan College Preparatory School and The University of the South. He proudly served the United States Air Force as a navigator and pilot. He then returned to Nashville to take over the operations of Hunt Memorials, where he was a pioneer in the monument industry. Bill was the first Certified Memorialist in Tennessee and was responsible for the current legislation in Tennessee regulating cemetery practices. Bill was a member of the American Institute of Commemorative Arts and past president of the Monument Builders of North America. Bill continued to enjoy flying and was an avid golfer with a beautiful swing! He was a faithful member of the Dalewood United Methodist Church, but honored both wives by being a “part-time” Catholic. Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend and most of all, a true Southern Gentleman. The family will visit with friends Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 3:00 until 8:00 PM, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM by Rev. Tomy Joseph, MSFM, Rev. James Panckal, CMI, and Deacon Gordon McBride at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 1: 00 PM at Dalewood United Methodist Church, 2300 Ridgecrest Drive, Nashville with Rev. Kyle Frohock and Rev. Robert Webster officiating. Burial will be at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery, Hillcrest Garden. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of The Saturday Night Supper Club, active pallbearers will be Charlie Hunt, Jr., John Wiley Hunt, Damon Regen, Dillard Adams, Hunt Adams, Michael Rance, and Stephen Bannach. Memorials may be made to the Dalewood United Methodist Church or Alive Hospice in Bill’s name. Arrangements have been entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery.
