Mr. Charles J. Northington, Jr.'s Obituary
Charles J. Northington, Jr., age 94, of Madison passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. He was born March 29, 1921 in Nashville to the late Charles Joseph Northington Sr. and Ethel Freeman Northington. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Northington; son, Charles “Chuck” Northington and sister, Margaret White. Charles was a very outgoing and loving person who loved being around people. He could be found on occasion playing Canasta or Rummy Cube with family, friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed big bands, square dancing and singing. Charles was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and proudly served his country in the Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Harbison (Rich); grandchildren, Dawn Witherspoon (Damon), Christie Mercer (Tyler), Corey Harbison (Rebekah Scott) and Bret Harbison (Marian Wakefield); great-grandchildren, Maddie O’Donnell and Ian Witherspoon; niece, Ann Williams (Mike); and dear friend, Jean Cunningham.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral mass to celebrate Charles’ life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
