Charles Ray "Chuck" Rittenberry's Obituary
Charles Ray “Chuck” Rittenberry passed away, March 29, 2012, in Houston, Texas. Charles was born on April 5, 1939 to the late Wilson Ray and Sadie Rittenberry of Nashville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rayleen Rittenberry of The Woodlands, Texas; his daughters Kris Rittenberry-Cagle of Noble, Oklahoma, and Kim Rittenberry of Tavernier, Florida; his son-in-law Brett Cagle; and his brother M.D. Rittenberry of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and attended graduate school at UCLA, and University of Southern California. Charles was a very accomplished entrepreneur and businessman. He served as Chairman of the Board for Deutsche Corporation, Chairman and CEO for Southland Energy Corporation, and Director of various owned and controlled companies. He was also involved with the Republican National Finance Committee; Executive Board of the Indian Nations Council, Boy Scouts of America. Prior to entering the oil industry, Charles worked for NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the space program on the Ranger, Mariner, and Surveyor Missions. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was an avid big game hunter and deep sea fisherman. His hobby was building and designing model train layouts. A graveside service honoring Charles life will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery.
