Charles Edwin Thompson's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Charles Edwin Thompson on October 24th, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Charles was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a true servant of the Lord with a heart of gold and a huge smile to go with it. He attended Crossroads Church in Lebanon, Tennessee and Inglewood Methodist Church before that. His students and colleagues fondly remember him for his intelligence and dedication to his craft. He will always be known for his brilliant mentorship and hard work. He founded Charlie’s Kids, a charity event he held near and dear to his heart, and hosted their annual event for 25 years each Christmas. Charles was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him, and his presence will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his daughter Melanie Bryan Rucker; sister Nelda Kitchens; and brothers Woodson Thompson and Karl Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Ruth Love Thompson; sons Barry Bryan (Marsha) and Tyler Bryan (LeAnne); daughters Sondra Miller (Mickey), Lana Wink (Steve Morris), and Jill Mann (Allen); 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
The family will receive guests for visitation on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home and on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 at 2:00 PM with entombment to follow at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charles’ memory to Crossroads Church in Lebanon, Tennessee.
