Charlie B. McGaw, 92, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021. Born July 13, 1929 in Nashville, he was the son of the late John W. McGaw and Jessie Alma Orton McGaw.
Charlie served his country proudly in the Korean War as a member of the United States Army. He served with the Metro Nashville Fire Department and ended his 45 year career there as District Chief. He liked to fish and hunt, but his main hobby was working. He built houses and fixed whatever his family and friends needed fixed. He was a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Thelma Ruth McGaw in 2016; brother John W. McGaw, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters Debbie (Larry) Allen and Kathy (Tom) Wharton; grandchildren Amy (Scott) Flowers, Ashlee (Kenny) Powers, Stevi (Luke) Loucks, and Carli (Tyler) Parham; great grandchildren Taylor Powers, Grayson Flowers, Charli Loucks, Cobi Loucks, Hank Parham, Walker Parham, and Cali Mae Parham on the way; sister Joyce Earls.
A visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville on Sunday, July 25, from 3 PM until 7 PM. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service with Pastor Jerry Heflin officiating will take place on Monday, July 26, at 2 PM at the funeral home. Family will receive friends and visitors two hours prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
