Charlotte Holloway Furman's Obituary
Charlotte Holloway Furman passed away at age 100 on July 21, 2012 in Pensacola, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years D. Robert Furman and survived by her son John R. Furman MD (Edie), daughter Gale Furman Coffee, grandchildren Daniel B. Furman (Kim), Russell D. Furman (Kathryn), Robert J. Furman (Carrie), Nathan Coffee (Kris), Ellen Coffee Blickhan (Brad), and 14 great grandchildren. She was born on October 23, 1911 in Perryman Md., graduated with a BA degree from Washington College in 1932, and taught high school for 3 years before starting a small chain of variety stores in upstate New York in 1935. She was involved in many community activities including the Presbyterian Church and numerous professional organizations. Her passion was bridge, and she continued playing in this activity until her mid-nineties. She and Robert retired to Gulf Breeze FL in 1972, where they pursued their favorite activity, cruise-sailing, in the waters of the eastern USA. She has been a resident at Azalea Trace for the past 12 years.Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery.
