Ms. Christine Bilbra Tanksley's Obituary
Ms. Christine Bilbra Tanksley, age 94 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 3, 2022. She was born on October 13, 1927 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William and Elizabeth Bilbra. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Wilburn Bilbra, Percy Bilbra, and WIlliam Campbell “Junior” Bilbra Jr., sisters Mildred Hooper, Madelyn Bonds, Edith Campbell, Lorene Elkins, and Helen Fogarty, as well as son-in-law Ernie Wilson. She is survived by her children Judy Wilson and John Tanksley (Liz), grandchildren Andy Wilson, Adam Wilson (Tiffany), and Elisa Mask (Jason), great-granddaughters Bryanna Wilson and Addyson Wilson, and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
Christine, known to those who love her as “Chris,” “Aunt Chris,” or “Mema” was a loving and caring lady with a giving spirit. She was a people person and never met a stranger, as she could talk to anyone. Family was incredibly important to her, and she cherished her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She was also an amazing cook and was always the person who gathered the family together for reunions and holidays. Chris was also a big sports fan. She adored the Atlanta Braves and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the players, their stats, even their wives’ names! In the off season from baseball, she was also a big fan of Titans and Vanderbilt football.
In lieu of flowers, the Tanksley family has requested that donations in Christine’s memory be made to City Road Chapel United Methodist Church.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 16 from 2pm-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home, and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 11am at City Road Chapel United Methodist Church.
