Mrs. Christine Vandiver's Obituary
Christine Earp Vandiver, age 94, of Madison, passed away on November 13, 2014. Mrs. Vandiver was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on April 4, 1920 to the late Ernest and Gladys Earp.
Mrs. Vandiver had a full and active life. For 30 years, she volunteered as a water aerobics instructor at Margaret Maddox YMCA. When she was able, she also walked one mile on the treadmill every day. She took great pride in her rosebushes and even mowed her large lawn up until 2012, when her family convinced her to finally hire a service. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved her family and extended family very much. Mrs. Vandiver was also active in the Ambassador’s Club and was a member of Jere Baxter Chapter 343 Order of the Eastern Star for 68 years. Since the passing of her beloved husband, some of Christine’s greatest joy came from her little dog, Winston.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vandiver was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jesse “Turk” Vandiver; her brothers, Robert, Ernest, and her two sisters, Dot and Mildred. She is survived by her son, Raymond (Connie) Vandiver,; daughter, Gloria Kay (Jack) Harris; grandchildren, Alisa (Kirk) Rawlings and Mark (Donna) Harris; and great-grandchildren, Kelby and Josie Lynn Rawlings.
Mrs. Vandiver’s family will receive friends and visitors on Monday, November 17, 2014, from 4pm until 7pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, from 9am until the time of service.
