Mr. Clark Wynn Johnson's Obituary
Clark Wynn Johnson, age 63, of Madison passed away on January 9, 2015. Clark was born in Maury County, Tennessee on March 4, 1951 to the late Otto and Dochia Johnson. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Clark was very proud of his service in the United States Army. He served for nearly 30 years, including two completed tours in Vietnam. The family recalls that Clark was a very thoughtful man, always ready to help someone. He was everyone’s “right hand man,” recalls his sister, Cleo. He helped a woman who was nearly blind manage her home and her finances – he even took in her dog when she was not able to care for it anymore.
Clark loved to eat. In particular, he loved the food his sister, Cleo (“Gran”) would cook. Fried potatoes, smothered in onions, extra-extra crispy bacon, and (before his diabetes) orange pie. But, nothing compared to Gran’s homemade cornbread. It seemed like Clark would finish all twelve cornbread muffins in no time, and Gran would get back to work making him some more. Clark and his family loved spending time together. Dinner and fellowship are the cornerstone occasions for the Johnson family, and many was the time that Clark and his sisters would get together at one another's homes to break bread and share stories.
Clark is survived by his sisters, Cleo Johnson, Ruby Hicks, Linda Terrell, and Sonjie Johnson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
Clark’s family will receive visitors on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm and again on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 12:00pm until 12:45pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Entombment will follow with military honors at 1:00pm in the Serenity Chapel Mausoleum at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
