Clifford “Buddy” Eugene Jarrell, age 78, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at his home in Old Hickory. Buddy was born on May 14, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late James Jarrell and Ruby Harris. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Leonard Harris, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Jarrell and Butch Jarrell; sisters, Jean Perry, Sue Happy and Betty Brewer; son, Clifford Jarrell, Jr.; great-grandson, Knox Poole. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alma Jarrell; 5 children, Kevin (Beth) Jarrell, Kim (Terry) Hogue, Jennifer Walker, Tim (Kim) Jarrell and Julie (Chuck) Phipps; 15 grandchildren, Paige (Josh) Poole, Mackenzie (Daniel) Anderson, Anna (Eric) Thaler, Amya Jarrell, Thomas (Carmen) Hogue, Steven (Amanda) Hogue, Courtney (Trey) Crabtree, Caitlin (Cody) Henry, Jenna Wilson, Hailey Jarrell, Victoria (Chase) Cromwell, Brittan Jarrell, Hayden Jarrell, Lindsey (Cody) Matthews, Peyton Phipps; 17 great-grandchildren, Jace Anderson, Zoey Anderson, Baby Anderson, Camden Poole, Lily Beth Poole, Maggie Hogue, Alex Hogue, Aliza Hogue, Summer Crabtree, Gracie Mae Crabtree, Hadleigh Henry, Kinsley Jarrell, Adaleigh Jarrell, Brodie Cromwell, Reagan Cromwell, Sutton Matthews, Chandler Matthews; 2 sisters, Gloria Faye (Bobby) Hawks, Ruth Helen Wall.
Brother Buddy, as he was passionately known by most, had recently served for 40 plus years as pastor of Eastwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. He also served at Clarkrange Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkrange, Tennessee while simultaneously serving at Friends Chapel in Morgan County. Other congregations included Fellowship Baptist Church in Allons, Tennessee, Parkview Baptist Church and Friendly Chapel in Nashville, Tennessee.
He loved and served each congregation and community passionately and with love. Always seeking ways to minister and do outreach, whether it be from the pulpit, as a scout leader, a baseball coach, or a school bus driver.
While serving in Nashville, Buddy was a bi-vocational minister. He worked as an optical technician for Williams Optical Lab which later became Southern Optical. He retired from the optical business in 2014,
Buddy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was truly loved by everyone. He will be missed and loved by all, so many memories to treasure.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 4 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service with Bobby Hawks officiating will be on Saturday, March 5 at 12:00 pm with two hours of visitation prior to the service also at the funeral home. The committal service will immediately follow at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery with Thomas Hogue, Steven Hogue, Hayden Jarrell, Peyton Phipps, Charlie Sills and Mike Goosetree serving as pallbearers; Scott Elliott, Perry Moss and Tommy Rediker as honorary pallbearers.
