Mr. Curt Templeton, Jr.'s Obituary
Curt Templeton, Jr., age 91 of Goodlettsville, passed away on January 11, 2016. Curt was born in a big house on the river in Clifton, Tennessee on March 4, 1924 to the late Curt Templeton, Sr. and Roxie Garrad Templeton.
Curt was a scholarly man who spent most of his life learning, both in and out of the classroom. He was a private person who loved to watch people. Music was important to Curt, and he collected all kinds of music, from the jazz and big band sounds to country and modern artists. He also served in both the United States Army and the Air Force. He was retired from Central Cumberland, where he worked for 45 years.
More than anything, faith and family were the cornerstones of Curt’s life. He was a Deacon at Park Avenue Baptist Church. He and the love of his life, Martha Lynch married on Christmas Day and their union has lasted 65 years. He was a wonderful father and a doting grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Curt was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Templeton; son-in-law, Richard Armstrong; brother, Bill Templeton; and sister, Marietta Cole. He is survived by his wife, Martha Templeton; son, Leslie Templeton (Kandy); daughter, Beth Armstrong; grandchildren, Brad and Greg Templeton; and his good friends, Walter Slater, Earl Ray Melton, and the mall-walkers at Rivergate Mall; and his grand-dog “Sam.”
Curt’s family will receive visitors on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 4pm until 8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. Additional visitation will take place on Friday, January 15, 2016, from 12pm until 2pm. Curt’s best friend, Bobby Strickland will lead a Funeral Ceremony to honor Curt at 2pm following Friday’s visitation, from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as Pallbearers.
