Mr. Daniel Joseph Fourtunia's Obituary
Daniel Joseph Fourtunia was born on February 19, 1959 to the parents of Rudolph
and Marie Fourtunia in New London, CT. He entered into eternal rest September 8,
2017 at a local hospital.
He was educated and he studied business administration at Austin Peay University
earning his associates degree. At 17 he joined the U.S. Army and served 6 years in
Germany. He returned to the U.S. and was stationed at Fort Campbell KY, the
remaining 24 years he served in the following units: 101st Airborne, 269th MP
division (scout), 568 Personnel, 278 Knoxville, Starc HQ in Smyrna Tn is where he
met the love of his life Rhonda Gooden they were united in Holy Matrimony on
September 13, 1996 and would have celebrated 21 years of marriage.
Daniel and Rhonda were faithful members at Progressive Baptist Church. Daniel
became licensed to Preach in 2001. Among numerous duties they were employed
as the Sextons in the church. They have contributed countless voluntary hours
including supervising convicted felons who were performing community service work
as a requirement of their probation. They cleaned up various areas in Nashville in
conjuction with Metro Public Works, in addition to giving advice on a better way of
living. He was a devoted family man who loved his wife. He definitely loved to laugh,
his hobbies included: bowling, fishing, baseball, nascar, he was a hard core fan of
the Tennessee Titans, he loved anything fun! He’s most famous for his savy dance
moves no one could replicate. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife Rhonda Fourtunia: Lovingly remembered by
children, David (Stefanie) Fourtunia, Jason (Michaela) Gooden, Jasina (Timothy)
Gooden-Patton, Jarremy (Keshia) Gooden; grandchildren, Mayeah Fourtunia,
Jason Jr., Jayla, Maiya, Jayce Gooden, Chauncey, Maliyah Gooden, Kayleb,
Jamariah and Jaedence Gooden; sisters, Lois (Michael) Picou, Faith (Holly)
Fourtunia, Florence (Brian) Hebert; nieces and nephews, Amy, James Picou,
Daniel Fourtunia, David, Zachary and Rose Hebert; devoted mother-in-law, Thenita
Jones, brother-in-law, Robert Jones. Special thanks to friends and family, DeOne
Lollar, Don and Debra Lewis, Jane Osgerby and the Progressive Baptist Church
family for making this Home Going Celebration memorable.
