Mr. Daniel Nelson Miller, Sr., age 85 of Madison, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the comfort of his home. He was born on February 10, 1935 to the late Barney and Nell Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Truman, Charlie, Joe, and Bill Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Janice Allen Miller, his daughter Karen Woodson (Terry), son Danny Miller (Beverly), grandsons Troy Miller (Ashley), Jason Miller (Heather), Nick Buttler, step granddaughters Tara Griffin (Chris) and Teri Ann Hooper (Kevin), nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his sister Mary Ellen Woodmore (Don).
Dan was a loving and devoted husband, father, and family man. Although a soft spoken and gentle person, Dan was a very strong, independent individual who was well respected by all who met him. He loved spending time with his family, but especially going hunting and fishing with them. Dan was happiest at home, but when he traveled, he very much enjoyed the beach. He also adored all of the golden retriever dogs he had over the years.
The family would like to thank all those who have expressed love to them with prayers, calls, texts, notes, and meals during the last few weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dan’s memory be made to Goodlettsville Church of Christ or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Alive Hospice and Dr. Kevin Smith for the loving medical care that was given to Dan.
A visitation for Mr. Miller will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 3pm-6pm, and again on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 12:30pm-1:30pm with a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 1:30pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In accordance with local ordinances, the proper use of masks will be required at the visitations, the service, and graveside.
