Darrel Ray Smith Sr.'s Obituary
Darrel Ray Smith, Sr., age 64, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on July 24, 2026.
Born on March 6, 1962, Darrel was the son of the late Orville and Margaret Smith. He was a man of quiet strength, known for his serious and responsible nature, and above all, his devotion to his family. Those who knew him best understood that his love and commitment to those he cared about were at the center of his life.
Darrel enjoyed music of all kinds and could often be found singing along to his favorite songs, whether they were classic rock anthems or beloved country tunes. He was also an avid student of history and a proud American patriot. His passion for history often came to life during family gatherings, especially during spirited games of Axis & Allies, where he combined his love of strategy, history, and quality time with family.
In addition to his parents, Darrel was preceded in death by his siblings, David Smith, Sherry Stagner, Linda Smith, and Gerald Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Steven Allen, Travis Smith, Darrel Smith, Jr., and Gunnar Doss; his grandchildren, Amanda Allen, Kailyn Smith, Allen Smith, Joshua Smith, and LilyAnn Smith; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Andrew Smith; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Though he has departed this earthly life, the love, wisdom, and memories he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
