David Lee Binkley's Obituary
David Lee Binkley, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on October 29, 1947, in Nashville, Tennessee, David was the cherished son of Alonzo Lee Binkley Jr. and Elizabeth Binkley. David was a man who wore many hats throughout his life, but he was most known for his dedication to his family and his work. A self-taught and self-employed commercial painter, David built his own business from the ground up, becoming a cornerstone of his community. His skill and craftsmanship have left a lasting mark on the many buildings and homes that he so lovingly restored to their former glory.
David had a natural curiosity about the world, always eager to educate himself on both national and global events. Whether it was fixing a broken appliance or restoring an old piece of furniture, David had a knack for bringing things back to life, a testament to his resourceful and determined nature. Though he was a simple man in many ways, David's humor and wit were anything but. Known for his infectious sarcasm and ability to bring levity to any situation, he could light up a room with his presence and bring smiles to the faces of those around him.
David is survived by his loving son, David “Bubba” Binkley, and his wife Michelle; his devoted daughter, Rebecca McGuire, and her husband Michael; his treasured grandchildren, Larry “Wayne” Shortt and Haley Binkley; and his precious great-grandchildren, Morgan Shortt and Lucy Binkley. He was a proud patriarch who cherished his family and found great joy in their company.
In the words of David himself, "You never leave this world alive." His family holds this sentiment close, finding comfort in the lasting memories and love he leaves behind. David Lee Binkley will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, humor, and resilience will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
