David Harvey's Obituary
HARVEY, David Dozier, age 98 of Madison, Tennessee passed away October 31, 2011 at his home. Dearly beloved husband of Ruth Pilkerton Harvey for 75 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Riggs Harvey and Bessie Dozier Harvey Carson, brothers, Fred Jackson Harvey and infant brother Harvey. He is survived by his wife Ruth and daughter Sandra (Jim) Young; son, Charles (Ann) Harvey; grandchildren, J. Clayton Young Jr. of Nashville, MAJ David (Debbie)Young Sr. of Monterey, TN, Suzann (Douglas) Fowler of N.C.; great-grandchildren, David and Audrey Young, Rachael and Laura Fowler. Mr. Harvey was an active member of Meridian St. UMC for 65 years, a trustee for 8 years. Presently he is a member of the Aldersgate UMC church family. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and active in the Masonic Order for 40 years beginning at Edgefield Lodge 254. He worked at the Newspaper Printing Corp. (now The Tennessean) for 35 years as a machinist and construction maintenance engineer. Previous work over the Southeast included employers Rock City Construction and Foster and Creighton Construction. Mr. Harvey also worked at the Oak Ridge Project during WWII. He spent his life serving others with patience and an easy grin. He leaves the memories of his persistent, hard-working ethic, a light-hearted nature, and a faithful love to family and friends. Visitation will be at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday November 2, 2011 from 5-8PM and on Thursday from 12 Noon until service time at 1PM. Officiating will be Jim Clark and Jim Norton. Pallbearers will be family and friends and Honorary Pallbearers will be 33rd Degree Member of the Grand Lodge and Masonic Lodge 254 Members. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospitals or the charity of your choice.
