Mr. David R. Thurman, age 72 of Old Hickory, Tennessee entered the Lord’s Rest on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen L. (Hoffman) Thurman (1998), father Daniel Ross Thurman (2011), of Nashville, Tennessee, grandparents Mr. Walter Montgomery Thurman and wife Mrs. Eva (Miss Selby) Thurman of Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Tom Lee Hoffman and wife Mrs. Mamie (Miss Shelton) Hoffman of Gallatin and Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Thurman was survived by no children, but many many cousins.
Mr. Thurman was born April 6, 1940 in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee, living his entire life in the Volunteer State of Tennessee. Mr. Thurman’s mark of achievements were made in the “School of Music.” He graduated from Isaac Litton High School. David Thurman had three God-given talents: Teaching, Music, and Writing. His kinsmen knew him by his music nickname of “Keys.” He worked as a licensed Tennessee Master Barber, and for three different “governments” at different times: Metropolitan Government for The Board of Education, Tennessee State Government in the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a mail clerk for the Statistical Reporting Service (for farmer’s crops) at the U.S. Courthouse (Broadway in Nashville, Tennessee), and almost twenty years for the Federal Government as a U.S. Post Office letter clerk and mail processor in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the final closing remarks regarding Mr. D.R. Thurman, it must be stated that those who knew him well would truthfully agree that Music, Movies, Plays, (certain) Books, and Art made up the accurate profile composite of this Tennessee Man.
