Mr. David Charles Watkins Sr.'s Obituary
David Charles Watkins Sr. age 80, left this earthly home for his heavenly home on Saturday, February 6, 2016. Mr. Watkins is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Geneva Western Watkins, daughter Marilyn Ann Yount sons David Charles Watkins Jr (Karen) and Hank Allen Watkins (Ann). He had 8 grandchildren: Bruce Yount Jr(Lori), Nancy Yount, Melissa Cherry (Marty), David Watkins III (Jennifer), Kristen Whittington (Jesse), April Nemer (Jake), Jessica Watkins (Alejandro Berti), and Adam Watkins (Melissa Icenhour). He leaves 12 great grandchildren: Caitlin, Hailey, Madeline, and William Yount; Emily, Libby, and Sadie Kay Watkins; and Henry Nemer; Brooklyn, Dean, and Reese Whittington; and Mack Cherry.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kirby and Lillian Watkins of Elkmont, Alabama. He also had 5 brothers and 3 sisters that preceded him in death: Bunion Watkins, Thomas Watkins, Lillian Howell, Oma Hood, Julie Cain, Andrew Watkins, Joe Watkins and Glen Watkins. He is survived by 5 brothers and 2 sisters: Bobby Watkins, Mable Putman, Sam Watkins, John Watkins, Boss Watkins, Tony Watkins, and Patricia Claunch.
Mr. Watkins was a loving and devoted family man. He was born in Alabama but spent most of his life in Nashville. He retired from Rogers Manufacturing Company after 25 years of service. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and working in the garden. He attended Eastland Baptist Church. He was proud of each of his three children being graduates of East High School.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10th at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Israel Brooks officiating. Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday from 4:00pm-8:00pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 until the funeral. Burial will follow the service at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Yount Jr, David Watkins III, Adam Watkins, Jacob Nemer, Jesse Whittington, Marty Cherry and Alejandro Berti.
