David Vance Wright's Obituary
David Vance Wright, 68, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on March 23, 2026, at TriStar Skyline Medical Center. He was born on December 19, 1957, in Nashville to Evelyn McIntyre Wright and the late Edgar Wright III.
David, known to many as “Dave,” graduated from Stratford High School in 1976 and entered the workforce soon after. He began his career with the State of Tennessee as a maintenance worker and elevator operator, later transitioning to the Printing Division where he worked in customer service and deliveries. After a dedicated 42-year career, Dave retired in 2020. He was well known and well loved by his coworkers and customers alike, frequently greeted with warmth whenever he was seen around town. His commitment and reliability earned him several awards recognizing his longevity and dedication to the department.
Dave was a faithful member of Riverwood Church of Christ and also attended Rosebank Church of Christ and Madison Church of Christ with his family over the years. His faith and church family were an important part of his life.
An avid bike rider, Dave loved spending time cycling through his neighborhood and the Inglewood and Madison areas of Nashville. When the weather cooperated, he could spend hours riding his Schwinn bicycle. He had a deep love of music and enjoyed leading singing during services at Rosebank Church of Christ. He collected vinyl records and could often be found listening to and singing along with favorites such as the Eagles, Three Dog Night, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. While friendly and outgoing, Dave also found peace in quiet moments, especially when drawing.
Despite his tall, lean frame, Dave had a hearty appetite and was a proud member of the “clean plate club.” No meal compared to his mother’s cooking, which always remained his favorite.
Dave will be remembered for his kindness, work ethic, love of music, and the simple joys he found in everyday life.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 1:30 pm until 2:30pm with a graveside service at Historic Spring Hill Cemetery following.
