Dawson Wesley Smith Sr.'s Obituary
Dawson Wesley Smith Sr, 82, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Born January 12, 1941, in Nashville. He was 1 of 9 children, son of the late Eliza and John Wesley Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Loretta Smith of 61 years. He was also preceded in death by his sister Juanita White, brothers Emory, Harold, and Cyril Smith. Dawson Wesley Smith Sr. is survived by daughter Rhonda Smith, son Dawson W. Smith Jr; grandchildren RaShawn Lewis, Loren Jennejahn, Jaleen Mooreland, Daijah Smith, Davonte Smith, and Davin Smith; great grandchildren Dominick Jennejahn and Alaryk Lewis; brother Maryland Smith; sisters Johnnie Mai Cartmell, Patricia (Tommy) Jordan, Elaine (Hershell) Warren; his dear friend William Overton; and several extended family members and friends.
Dawson graduated from Pearl High School. He accepted Christ at a young age at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church where he later started singing in the men’s choir. He retired from Nicholstone Book Binding.
The family cordially invites guests and relatives for a time of visitation on Friday, January 26th, 2024, from one o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the memorial service at two o'clock in the afternoon, with an inurnment ceremony to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
Final arrangements for Mr. Smith, Sr. are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "Where Nashville Comes to Remember."
