Dennis Charles Akin's Obituary
Mr. Dennis Charles Akin, age 78, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 22, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, Dennis was the cherished son of the late Albert Charles and Mary Ruth Akin.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dennis lived a life rooted in love, generosity, and service. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Belmont University in 1969 and went on to establish AK Analytical in Hendersonville, TN, where he worked as a respected forensic scientist.
Dennis had a passion for golf and boating, and he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A lifelong fan of Jimmy Buffett, he embraced the laid-back spirit of the music he loved. He was also a proud supporter of Tennessee sports—an original Titans PSL season ticket holder and a fervent Tennessee Volunteers fan.
His dedication to community was evident through his years of service as President of the Hendersonville Girls Softball League, where he coached and mentored countless young athletes. Known for his thoughtful gestures, Dennis never missed a birthday, always reaching out to brighten someone’s day.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Kaye Akin; daughters, Kelly Akin Myatt and Julie Aldering (Rob); sister, Suzanne Miller; brother, Neil Akin (Renee); grandchildren, Skyler Manning (Gabby), Abby Nester (Marcus), and Spencer Manning (Alyssa); great-grandchildren, Kayden, Sawyer, Miles, and Kolter; and sister-in-law, Debbie Spromberg.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 2:00 PM and continue until the hour of service.
