Mr. Dennis Franklin Chitwood's Obituary
Mr. Dennis Franklin Chitwood, 71, a resident of Nashville and formerly of Taft, California, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Alive Hospice.
The Bakersfield, California native was the son of the late Jesse James and Mary Elizabeth Miller Chitwood. He was affiliated with productions of several oil fields in California for most of his life. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, the Green Bay Packers and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carolyn Sue Rice Chitwood, having renewed their vows in December of 2013; two daughters, Lisa (Allen) Abney and Julie (Jason) Cunningham; a sister, Betty (Ocie) Lewis; a brother, Bill (Loni) Chitwood; six grandchildren, Drew (Emma) Wells, Catelyn (Will) Purvis, Cidni Wells, Richard Abney, Chris Abney and Matt (Kaytie) Cunningham; three great grandchildren, Adeline Grace Purvis, Abigail Faith Purvis and Nyna Rose Wells; several nieces and nephews; two special best friends, Jim Trout and George Ewing.
Private family memorial services will be held in Nashville and California. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN.
