Mr. Derek Van Sloan's Obituary
Derek Van Sloan passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2021. He was born on December 6, 1950 in Madison, TN the son of Lovell and Annette (Hare) Sloan both of whom have preceded him in death.
Rick was a righteous man who loved to serve others, it was one of his passions. He was a very giving person and also greatly appreciated anyone going out of their way for him as well. Rick loved to make people laugh as he was a very witty man right up to his last hours. He also served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. In his younger years Rick enjoyed the sport of Boxing, he boxed throughout high school as well as his time in the Air Force.
Rick is survived by his life partner Teresa Hylton; brothers Steve Sloan (Cindy), Michael Sloan (Melanie); sister Karen Norrod (Donnie). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kelsey Mackenzie Sloan and his brother Terry Sloan.
Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
