Donald Edward Huth's Obituary
HUTH, Donald Edward, Esq: Died at 5am on Monday, 29 June 2026, at Tristar Skyline Medical Center, Nashville TN, of heart failure. A retired Foreign Service Officer, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Maureen Elizabeth Tanner of Millbrae CA; his parents, George John Huth of New Orleans LA, and Catherine Anne Lehr of Belleville IL; his oldest grandson Jonathan Patrick Aleksandar; and his third great granddaughter, Dawn Ray Finley.
Born 23 Mar 1937 in St Louis MO, he began school at St Boniface Grammar School in St Louis MO but graduated from St Anthony Grammar School, Archbishop Riordan High School, and City College all in San Francisco and the University of California in Berkeley, CA. He also attended the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He worked for Standard Oil Company of California before joining the Central Intelligence Agency in 1963 and then the US Department of State in 1965 where he served in various capacities at Foreign Service Posts in North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Near East for over 35 years. An avid genealogist he was a member of several genealogical societies.
He is survived by his son, Geoffrey Anthony Huth, of New York City NY, daughter-in-law, Nancy Haven of Glen Falls NY, and their children, Timothy Liam Huth (Jacqueline) of Seattle WA, and Erin Mallory (James) Long of Astoria, NY; son Erick Edward Huth of Shelbyville, TN, daughter-in-law Judy Ann Huth, and their children, Alexandra Renée Finley (Chase) and Nicholas Anthony Huth, all of Knoxville TN; daughter, Kathleen Alison and husband Steven Michael Powell of Franklin TN, and their children, Jacob Radnor Powell of Newport Beach CA, Lillian Joyce Thomas (Taylor) of Elizabethtown KY, and Thomas Ryan Powell of Knoxville TN; daughter Jeannine Alicia-Marie and husband Douglas Scott Renfro, and their children, Martin Edward and Daniel Myles Renfro, all of Goodlettsville TN; daughter Jacquelynne Elizabeth-Anne and husband Timothy Dewayne Auberson, and their children, Caitlyn Elizabeth and Sean Tanner Auberson, all of Mount Juliet TN; son John Aleksandar and wife Karla Mariam Deering Huth of Hermitage TN; and 5 great grandchildren plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to his caregivers, Adam Ferraris, Carolyn Downs, Sonny, Judy, and Kay.

Visitation will be at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road S, Nashville TN from 4:30pm to 8pm on Thursday, 9 Jul 2026. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated by Father Jean Baptiste at 10am on Friday, 10 Jul 2026 in St Joseph Catholic Church, 1225 Gallatin Road S, Madison TN with burial to follow immediately thereafter next to his wife in Spring Hill Cemetery.
