Mr. Donald Pickel's Obituary
Mr. Donald Howell Pickel, age 79 of Madison, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019. He was born on November 12, 1939 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Earl and Alma Pickel. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Watts, his brothers: Johnny, Charlie, Raymond, Jimmy, Harold, and Billy Pickel; and his nephew Ralph Scurlock. He is survived by his wife Rita Pickel, his sons: Kirk Pickel (Beth), Ken Pickel (Angela), Kevin Pickel, and Kelly Pickel (Laura); and his grandchildren: Donnie, Matt, Jeremy, Natalie, Owen, Claire, Alice, and Amelia Pickel, as well as his sister Hattie Pickel, his nephews Ray and Alan Pickel, and his nieces Lori White, Beverly Fitzgerald, Beverly Scurlock, and Angel Foster.
Donald was a kind, generous, and caring person. He loved spending time with his family, and would do anything for them. He always supported his sons’ and grandchildren’s sports teams, attending as many games as he could, and he especially enjoyed watching college football. Donald was an amazing repair man and if it was broken, Donald could fix it. Once he retired, his favorite hobby became working in his yard, ensuring that it was always meticulously mowed and manicured, and he even helped neighbors in need with their yards. Donald was simply an all-around good guy, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A visitation with the family will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 2-4pm. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 10am. Those wishing to attend the graveside inurnment service should meet at Spring Hill Funeral Home at 9:45am to go to the graveside in procession. In lieu of flowers, the Pickel Family requests that donations be made to the Saint Joseph's Catholic Church Organ Fund or the Saint Joseph's School Tuition Fund.
