Donald Wade Snell's Obituary
Donald Wade Snell, age 84 of Madison, TN passed away March 28, 2012 after an extended illness. A retired printer, Mr. Snell was born June 10, 1927 in Williamson County, TN to the late Emmet Wade and Yula Harrison Snell. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Ruth Morgan Snell; three sisters, Carolyn (Raymond) Langlois of Brentwood, Betty Jo Wiggs of Nashville and Jane Pharris of Pegram, TN; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Snell retired from the Newspaper Printing Corporation in 1987 after serving 42 years. Before his retirement he was a dayside Composing Room Foreman. He attended East High School and joined the U.S. Navy in during World War II with service in the South Pacific and Japan aboard the “S.S. Sea Devil”. He was a member of the Madison Church of Christ,, Nashville Typographical Union # 20 and Capital City Golf. Prior to his health issues, he was an avid golfer, fisherman and baseball fan, working out at a young age with a spring training baseball team in Florida. The Atlanta Braves were his all-time favorite team. With his lengthy illness and his lasting faith, he remained courageous and positive ending his long battle with peace and dignity. The family would like to thank the nieces, nephews and cousins for their helpful care and loving kindness. A celebration of Mr. Snell’s life will be conducted at 12 P.M., Friday, March 30, 2012 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Norman Slate and Raymond Langlois officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery with nephews and close friends serving as pallbearers. The deacons and elders of Madison Chuch of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and from 10:00 A.M. until 11:45 A.M. on Friday, prior to the service at Spring Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Alive Hospice.
