Mrs. Dora "Dusty" L. Tomes' Obituary
Dora "Dusty" L. Tomes, age 65, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019. She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Jones; one sister, Valerie Leggio. She is survived by her mother, Frances Jones; husband of 37 years, Tony Tomes; three daughters, Alicia Tomes, Elizabeth Long (Jon), Nanette Dendy (Jeff); two sons, Kevin Tomes, Dustin Tomes; one sister, Regina Hunter; one brother, Rick Jones; five grandchildren, Kemari Tomes, Ariyana Tomes, Chayse Long, Cory Long, John Long Jr.
Dusty was considered a great cook by her friends and family. She always cooked and hosted family meals around the holidays. She enjoyed sewing and making dresses for her children when they were younger, gardening and taking care of her many rose bushes. Wednesday nights were a special time for her and the family, that’s when they would gather around the tv to watch the show Yellowstone. She was a member of the Macon County Historical Society and enjoyed genealogy. Dusty had many talents and interests, but above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her.
Visitation for Dusty will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216 from 1 PM until 8 PM and again on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 10 AM until 12 PM at which time a celebration of life funeral service will be conducted from the chapel. Burial will follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
