Ms. Doris Dean Coker Cockrill's Obituary
Doris D. Coker Cockrill, age 89 of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully with her family present on the afternoon of Friday, September 25, 2020, after an extended illness.
She was born on November 17, 1930, to the late Herlie Coker and Myrtle Kent Coker Martin. She is survived by her son Bill Cockrill, daughter-in-law Anna-Lee, and her three grandchildren Emily, Indy, and Billy. Sister Margaret Apple, her nieces, Belinda Apple Anderson and husband Ken, Vicki Apple Dorton, and her grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Ray Coker, brother-in-law Clyde Apple, Sr., and nephew Nick Apple.
Doris was born in Hartsville, Tennessee, and moved to Nashville in her later childhood. She was a graduate of East High School.
Doris loved her family, cooking, and spending time at the Grand Ole Opry, where she worked for forty years.
A family graveside service for Mrs. Cockrill is being held on October 5, 2020 at 12 noon with visitation starting at 11:30 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216, with Dr. Kevin Shrum officiating. Additional visitation with the family will be held after services for those that wish to stay and fellowship. Maps will be made available in the cemetery office.
