Mrs. Doris Davis Hicks' Obituary
Doris Hicks went to be with the Lord on Thursday August 19, 2021, after a long decline in health. Born January 22, 1934 in Old Hickory, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Albert Davis and Carrie White Davis.
A devout Christian, world-traveler, art enthusiast, devoted servant, Doris also enjoyed volunteering and found great purpose in serving and caring for others. In her early years, she was a candy striper at Nashville Memorial Hospital. She had many stories to tell about her time helping with the Boy Scouts. Together with her husband, a Scoutmaster, they raised four sons, who all became Eagle Scouts. Her knack for fashion and interior design led her to run a boutique shop at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Nashville, and she always dreamed of owning another. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking her family’s favorite meals, and loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, yet her memory lives on in all she taught us, and especially anytime we pass Cracker Barrel, see the cooking channel, or hear Randy Travis, her favorites.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-one years Norman “Wayne” Hicks, brother Doug Davis, and sister Emma “Dean” Grimes.
She is survived by her sons Greg (Karen) Hicks, Steve Hicks, Doug (Becky) Hicks, and Jimbo (Starr) Hicks; brother Jimmy (Myrna) Davis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Life service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 at 10 AM from the funeral home chapel, with an hour of visitation prior. Interment to follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, a Nashville landmark since 1785 “Where Nashville Comes to Remember”
