Mrs. Doris Mae Rice Acree's Obituary
Doris Mae Rice Acree, born on November 8, 1924 in Harrisburg, IL, to the late Opal Blue Rice and the late Charles M. Rice, passed away at the age of 93 on February 4, 2018, in North Richland Hills, TX. She graduated from high school in Harrisburg, IL and later moved to Lawrenceville, IL, where she worked as a civilian at George Field airbase during WWII. It is there that she met her husband, the late Cecil G. Acree, of Nashville, TN. They were married in 1946 and enjoyed 68 years together. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara L. Lands and brother James L. Rice. Doris is survived by her son, Graham Acree (Linda) of Dickson, TN; daughter, Kathleen Duncan (Gary) of Colleyville, TX; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Mayfield of Buckholts, TX; and Naomi R. Brown of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Marilyn Sensing (David), Bertram Acree, Amy Stanfield (Derek ), Jeffrey Duncan (Stephanie) and Mark Duncan; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Lakewood Village Church of Christ in Fort Worth, TX, where she enjoyed working with Mission Printing Inc. helping to prepare bulk mailings. She also had a passion for raising African violets. Doris always had a smile on her face and a hymn in her heart. Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN, 37216. A memorial service will be held in Fort Worth TX, on February 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakewood Village, 5100 Randol Mill Road, Fort Worth, TX 76112.
