Mrs. Dorothy Craig Edging's Obituary
Dorothy Craig Edging, 89, of Murfreesboro, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Adams Place Care Facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Dorothy was born in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, to Ruth and Edgar Craig on January 5, 1929. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Tom Edging. In addition to being a wonderful wife of 72 years, she proudly became a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to the Edging family. Dorothy was a loving mother to Thomas Jr and Joan, a caring mother-in-law, and a passionate grandmother and great-grandmother. Although Dorothy’s focus was her family, she enjoyed working part time in sales, decorating, finding a bargain and exploring small towns.
As a member of Walter Hill Church of Christ, Dorothy has felt welcomed, supported and well-loved by her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth & Edgar Craig; her uncle James (Sadie) Hudlow; her in-laws George & Edith Edging; sisters Margaret Edging, Mary Ann Reed, Betty Braden, Jane Boylan and Ruth Edging; brothers Roy (Roberta), Robert (Juanita), George W. (Barbara) Edging; brother-in-law Billy Fudge; nephews Billy, Ricky Edging; and a grandson Justin Fisher.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Thomas ‘Gene’ Edging; son Thomas (Carole Ann) Edging; daughter Joan (Brad) Edging Fisher; 3 grandchildren Matt (Alix) Edging, Kathryn (Bryan) Wall, Lauren (Steve) Lanier; 5 great-grandchildren Emerson, Emily and Ella Lanier and Levi and Liam Wall; sisters-in-law Lois Fudge, Dorothy (Dual) Jones, Linda (Kevin) Snow; Hudlow family members Flora, Jimmy and Fran; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31st from 4 PM – 8 PM at Spring Hill Funeral Home 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN, 37216. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1st at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the family accepting friends and visitors an hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the members of Walter Hill Church of Christ, the staff of Adams Place, and the staff of Caris Hospice for their love and support during Dorothy’s final days.
