Mrs. Dorothy E. "Dot" Leverett's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy E. “Dot” Vandiver Leverett, 85, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at her residence in Goodlettsville. She was born on February 25, 1928 in Nashville, TN. Dot graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1946 and was active with the Litton Alumni Association. She attended Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, FL and worked briefly for National Life and Accident Insurance Company. Dot married Les Leverett on February 4, 1949 in San Antonio, TX. She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, puzzles, and reading. She loved to laugh and have fun with her family and friends. She was very involved with the Women’s Missionary Union of Union Hill Baptist Church and Dickerson Road Baptist Church where she was an active member. Dot is survived by her loving husband, Les Leverett of Goodlettsville, TN, formerly of Atmore, AL; a son, Gary (Charlotte) Leverett of Murfreesboro, TN; a daughter, Libby (Larry) Crew of Nashville, TN; sisters, June Shively of Burns, TN and Cynthia Dye (Bill Anderson) of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Vandiver and Doye Brown Vandiver Johnson; sister, Edna Francis Vandiver; a son, John William Leverett. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pk., Nashville, TN 37216. Entombment will be in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery Serenity Chapel Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The service will be conducted by Reverend Tim Adams, Reverend Mike Fisher, and the eulogy and music provided by Jon Bruce Briggs. The family wishes to thank Alive Hospice, her nurses, doctors, and her loving friends for their care and support.
