Dorothy A O'Donnell's Obituary
Dorothy Ann “Dee” O’Donnell
Born on July 25, 1937, in Nashville, Tennessee, to parents John F. Scalf and Annie Carney, she entered the world surrounded by a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents; ten brothers and sisters; her beloved son, James Paul “Bo” Scalf; her devoted nephew Wayne Scalf; and her faithful furry companion, Chubbs.
She is survived by her devoted brother, Larry Scalf; her son, Johnny Scalf; her daughter, Deborah Inxaysy (John); granddaughters Christy Inxaysy, Pennie Marlin (Michael), and Vickie Bouttavong; grandsons Johnathan Inxaysy and Jeffrey Scalf; seven great‑grandchildren; two great‑great‑grandchildren; devoted nieces Jessie Boles, Kathy Noojin (John), and Peggy Scalf; nephew Michael Scalf (Candi); great‑nieces Hayley Smithay (Kaleb) and Kyra Tobitt; great‑nephew Thomas Tobitt; two great‑great‑nephews; and a host of extended nieces, nephews, great‑nieces, great‑nephews, family, and friends who loved her dearly.
Known to most as “Dee” or “Granny Dee,” she was a constant source of love, generosity, and unwavering presence. She never missed a birthday, graduation, or special occasion. She cherished quiet moments on the back porch with a glass of sweet tea, the joy of cooking for others, and the laughter shared with family and friends. She also had a special fondness for yard sales and thrift stores—always on the lookout for hidden treasures and little finds she could share with the people she loved. Her home was a true gathering place—especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas—where she opened her doors with the heartfelt belief that “anyone and everyone is welcome.”
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during her final days.
