Dr. Carl Wayne Franklin's Obituary
Carl Wayne Franklin, DDS age 73 of Old Hickory, passed away January 25, 2013. Dr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Carl Franklin and Tommie Gaines Franklin; and his brother, Dr. Leonard Eugene Franklin. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Julia Franklin; sister, Betty Ann Franklin; son, Brett Franklin (Christy); grandchildren, Lucas, Colton, Ava and Aubree. He was a 1957 graduate of Dupont High School and a 1963 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. Dr. Franklin was a life member of The Greater Nashville Dental Study Club, Nashville Dental Society, Tennessee Dental Association and The American Dental Association. He was a Fellow of The American College of Dentists and The International College of Dentists. He was a longtime member of the Old Hickory United Methodist Church, a member of the Old Hickory Masonic Lodge #598, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and the Al Menah Shrine Temple. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1966 at Eglin AFB. He loved his family, friends, profession, his church and the Lord. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, January 27th from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday, January 28th from 10-11 a.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home with a Masonic Service to be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Vorhees officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Larry Monroe, Dr. Ted Beasley, Tyler Baldridge, Carnes Flatt, Charles White and Dr. Stan Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. David Allen, Dr. Tom McRae, Dr. Robert Mangialardi and Members of Greater Nashville Dental Study Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Old Hickory United Methodist Church, 1216 Hadley Avenue, Old Hickory, TN 37138.
