Dr. Margaret Elizabeth Duncan's Obituary
DUNCAN, Dr.Margaret Elizabeth-Age 84 of Nashville passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011. She was a 1933 graduate of East High School. She received a B.S. in 1948 from Murray State University and went on to George Peabody College to earn a M.A. in 1955. She earned her Education Specialist degree from George Peabody College in 1973 and would later return to receive her Doctorate in Philosophy in 1980. She served as Vice Principal of East Middle School and at DuPont Hadley Middle School for many years before her retirement. Following retirement she continued to work in education through the Adult Literacy Program. She was a longtime member of Eastland Baptist Church. She was born to the late James Floyd and Floy Thompson Duncan. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Duncan Mays; and brother, James F. Duncan, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Joann Love Duncan den Hertog; nieces, Cynthia Duncan Lewellen and Emily Duncan Spruill; nephew, James F. Duncan, III; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Sunday, October 16th and a funeral service will be conducted at 2PM, Monday, October 17th with visitation two hours prior at SPRING HILL FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY 5110 Gallatin Rd. Nashville, TN 37216
