Edith Meriwether's Obituary
She was born in Glasgow, KY on January 16, 1929, to the late Zora Hazel Bowels and George Bruce Edwards. She lived on the family farm near Glasgow, KY until moving to Madison, TN in 1964. Once settled in Madison, she began working for Castner Knotts where she retired after 26 years. She loved cooking for her family, especially enjoying who would fight to get the first deviled egg and “ Grandmommy cookie” at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fudge pies were her specialty, too. She loved all things UT football and Peyton Manning and enjoyed watching college football games every Saturday with her husband, Toby.
Along with her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Fuller “Toby” Meriwether, son Arnold Bunch, daughter Gilda York, sister Lera Bishop and brothers Herbert, Owen, Clarence, Howard, Frealin, Candor and Roger.
She was survived by daughter Janice Letson, sister Cora Bradford, grandchildren Jamie Bunch, Mandy Wylie (John), Brandon Kiser (Leslee), Hubbell King, Trey York (Jaime), Lindsay York, and 7 great grandchildren.
Celebration of life service will be conducted on October 25, 2024, at 12:00pm from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216 with her nephew, Shawn Edwards officiating with entombment to follow. John Wylie, Logan Wylie, David Avella, Robert "Trey" York, Bob York, Bobby Parkhurst and Chase King will be pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of service.
