Mr. Eldon Harris Hatcher Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Eldon Harris Hatcher, Jr., 87, a resident of Madison, died Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Alive Hospice at the Skyline Madison Campus.
The Nashville, Tennessee native was the son of the late Eldon H. Hatcher, Sr. and widower of Eva Jean Biffle Hatcher. He was a graduate of East Nashville High School. He was a retired over the road truck driver with over 40 years service with American Freight Systems. He served as president of the Retirees Chapter of the Local 480 Teamsters Union. Mr. Hatcher was a 33rd Degree Mason, who served as Past Master for both Doric and Jere Baxter Lodges. He was also a member of the Andrew Jackson Chapter of the National Sojourners and an Al Menah Shriner. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and active in their many affairs. His life was Music in which he loved playing the guitar and did so with a group of fellow musicians for functions and different organizations. Within the past year he was able to record a cd made of all his musical works, titled “Songs of the Dusty Road”. Mr. Hatcher proudly served our country in the United States Navy.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Hatcher; a son, Eldon H. “Rip” Hatcher, III; a sister, Betty Sue Little; four grandchildren, Ashlee (Charles) Stokely, Anthony Keith Hatcher, Eldon H. “Donny” Hatcher, IV and Colin Blake Hatcher; a great grandson, Anthony Chase Hatcher; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hatcher.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Ceremony will be conducted Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Deacon Ben Butler officiating. The family will visit with friends Monday, September 22, 2014 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM and on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 10:00AM until 10:45AM at Spring Hill Funeral Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be recited Monday evening at 7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
