Eldon Pearl Heizer's Obituary
Eldon Pearl Heizer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 6th, 2024.
Pearl was born in Marysville, Ohio on January 12th, 1942, to George Manley Heizer and Elizabeth Redmond Heizer. He attended Byhalia High School in Byhalia, Ohio, and came to Nashville in 1963 to attend Nashville Deisel College. Most of his working career was as a mechanic, from Swiss Dairy Farm to Purity Dairy, and finally to United Parcel Service where he retired after 35 years of service.
Pearl proudly served our country in the United States Air Force Reserve. He trained at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and returned to Nashville to work on airplanes at the Tennessee National Guard Headquarters at Berry Field.
He loved the Lord with all his soul, and was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee at the time of his passing.
Pearl was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching any basketball or football game that was on.
In addition to his parents George and Elizabeth, Pearl is preceded in death by son Joseph Allen Heizer; brothers George Heizer, Kenneth Heizer, and James Heizer; and sisters Anna Schmelzer, Mary Waggoner, Dora Woods, and Eleanor Buttler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Eleanor Gaile Heizer; daughter Theresa Renee Bruce; grandchildren Jarrett Bruce (Mandi) and Jordin Tinker (Alex); four great-grandchildren Ty, Presley, Bella, and Charlotte Bruce, with one great-granddaughter on the way for Jordin and Alex in June; brothers Fred Heizer, Robert Heizer (Flo), and Tom Heizer (Ellen); sister Phyllis Oliver (Raleigh); several nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
The family cordially invites guests and visitors for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, from four o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, and on Friday, April 12th, 2024, from ten o’clock in the morning until the time of the funeral service at twelve o’clock noon, with burial to follow at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road, Nashville, TN 37216.
Pastor Steven Young will preside over Friday’s services.
Pallbearers are Jarrett Bruce, Larry Buie, Lyn Hendricks, Tom Heizer, Alex Tinker, and Chris Whitworth. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Heizer and Brian Whitworth.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, “Where Nashville Comes to Remember.”
