Eleanor Kaye (nee. Cope) Cline's Obituary
After living with the progressive disease of Alzheimer’s for almost ten years, Eleanor Kaye (nee. Cope) Cline, age 78, left our earthly world on October 23, 2023 at American House Assisted Living in Nashville, TN, with her family by her side. Kaye was born February 27, 1945, in Nashville, TN to the proud parents of the late Fred Stanley and Daisy Louise Cope. Kaye is survived by her loving husband, Charles Wendell Cline and sister, Nancy M Pinkston. She was preceded in death by her three brothers and one sister, Robert Cope, Claude Cope, Jerry Cope, and Francis Cope.
At the early age of 16, Kaye found the love of her life, Wendell Cline. Excited to start their lives together, two years later, they were married on August 23, 1963, in Nashville, TN; their love story continued for 60 beautiful years. Kaye’s happiness only increased with the birth of their three children, Chris Cline, Tony Cline and Karen Cline Brent, and then welcoming later a daughter-n-law, Julie Gibbs Cline, and son-n-law, Warren Brent, Jr. Kaye was overjoyed when her family continued to grow having now eight grandchildren- Easton Cline, Lauren Cline Underwood, Britte Underwood, Carson Cline, Krestyn Cline Kearney, Jake Kearney, Will Brent, III and Isaac Brent. This past September, Kaye’s first great grandson, Ren Underwood was born.
Kaye could have done many things, but she chose marriage and motherhood as her primary focus and poured her passion into loving Wendell and dedicated her life to raising her children; family always came first to Kaye. As a kind, caring, and giving person, her entire life was devoted to serving others. She was a woman of strong faith and would be there for you to lean on, listen and pray with you. While raising her own children, for many years, she was the nursery director at Hendersonville Church of the Nazarene. She passionately devoted countless hours to the children in her church. If a parent could not get their child to stop crying, they would bring them to Kaye or Granny Kaye (Baby Whisperer) and her loving embrace would comfort them; it was a gift. Kaye really had a gift with children.
In Kaye’s teenage years, she was an avid roller skater and could be found on the weekends with her sister at the Hippodrome. Kaye and Nancy also shared a love for the two step, waltz and jitterbug. Even later in life if Kaye heard some music, she would start dancing with a big smile on her face. After marrying Wendell, he taught her how to waterski and they enjoyed the lake together. As her children became older, she went to cosmetology school and became a licensed shampooist and manicurist. Working part time at Jeanette’s Beauty Shop, she had the same gift that she had with children in the nursery, whether it was a head massage or making someone’s nails beautiful, every customer felt better and left with a smile.
After the kids were grown and married, Kaye & Wendell could be found with Sue & Jr Cline, heading off to the Smokey Mountains, or even taking a trip out west.
Her heart was full and overflowed onto all who knew her. Kaye would always welcome you with a Big Warm Hug and treated everyone like they were family.
To miss someone so much means they were extremely special, and we will miss her greatly! We were blessed to have her in our lives. She is in our hearts forever. We are comforted by the loving and happy memories we share of her love.
While the Cline Family grieves the loss of Kaye, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit with a private family celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memories be made to Walk to End Alzheimer's @ http://act.alz.org/goto/memoriesmatterwalk4mom
